Day to Make a Difference 2015 - Plant It Forward

Join us on Saturday, Sept. 19th for our annual day of service at Plant it Forward farms.

Houston has been the #1 refugee resettlement destination in the US for the past two years, receiving more refugees than any other US city.  One reason for this is the booming Houston economy; however, refugees with agrarian backgrounds may have difficulty repurposing their skills in our urban environment.  Plant It Forward is a nonprofit organization that supports refugees with farming skills by providing farmers with land,  education in sustainable organic farming techniques and the Plant It Forward brand to sell their produce through local farmers markets, farm shares and to local chefs and restaurants.  Join the Wellesley Club of Houston on Day to Make a Difference to help Plant It Forward farmers at their newest farm location in Bellaire.  We will be working outdoors so please dress accordingly and don’t forget your sunscreen!  We recommend close-toed shoes and gardening/work gloves for this event.
